APPC Webinar 2: Institutional Innovations and Reforms under the New Normal

DATE: 17 SEPTEMBER 2020
TIME: 9:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m. (GMT+8)

Institutions shape behavior and transactions, impact processes, and facilitate transformations in governance. Achieving agile and innovative governance amidst a VUCA world requires institutional reforms, strategic planning, effective implementation, and sustained efforts. Looking at the experience of other countries that faced shocks or sought reforms to improve public service delivery, what institutional reforms are critical as countries move toward a new normal?  What can the Philippines and other developing countries learn from exemplary reforms implemented by other countries? What key elements made such reforms successful?

The goal of the webinar is to come up with a set of specific recommendations for institutional/policy plans or actions aimed at innovating governance and/or promoting innovation in the public sector toward recovery and resilience.  The speakers and panelists are invited to talk about concrete institutional innovations and reforms that have resulted in the achievement of certain policy objectives as well as the constraints, and opportunities for institutional innovation.
